8 Very good (Has positive influence on others)
6-7 Good (Can be depended upon, but not exceptional)
    4-5 Fair, average, not bad
    3 Just passing

0 No sign of change after repeated counsel and warnings

Every new school year, the students start to build their H&B from a blank record.  For most items, the highest rating for H&B that can be given in the first quarter is 6 or 7.  This rating is increased as consistency of good habits or behavior is observed.

Habits and behavior are considered very important learning goals in TCS.  The school reserves the right not to readmit students with failures in two or more items in H&B.

  • Expectations and Framework for High School Students (Keys for Success in Life)

  • Standard Skills for High School Students
    Study Skills
    • I will remember what is taught for long term use.

    • I will study to learn, not just to pass.

    • I will take personal responsibility for storing knowledge on one's own initiative.

    • I will take responsibility for comprehension and analysis of lessons.

    • I will hold on to what I hear and learn. It is a building block for tomorrow's knowledge.

    • I will study even if there is no test.

    • I will read books beyond what is assigned.

    Testing Skills
    • I will read, understand and apply instructions without teacher's explanation. I will consult the teacher when clarification is needed.

    • I will study carefully and in advance for any test.

    • I will read and answer questions seriously.

    • I will target for the best; expect the best from myself.

    • I will maintain silence during tests beginning from giving out of papers up to the last person finishing the test.

    • I will apply knowledge to different situations. I know the tests will not be merely recall; situations will be changed.

    • I will stay up-to-date with lessons so I am prepared for any unannounced test.

    • I will be careful with my spelling.

    Listening Skills
    • I can focus attention on what the speaker is saying and mentally repeat, analyze and make my own judgment.

    • I can listen to oral instructions and note important points, then follow through in applications.

    • I can shut-off thoughts that are unrelated to lessons being discussed in class, so that concentration can be enhanced.

    • I can use different techniques to enhance listening, such as copying notes, visualizing, etc.

    Emotional Skills
    • I can accept responsibility for my own property notebooks, books, projects, etc. and not leave them around for others to pick up.

    • I will be conscious of time, and thoughtful of others' time.

    • I will do what is good for the sake of doing good, without expecting any reward.

    • I will keep to assigned seats.

    • I will wait for the proper time for everything (e.g., P.E. class, recess).

    • I can control self from talking while the class is going on.

    Physical Skills
    • I can control the use of my hands in handling apparatuses and in making experiments.

    • I can be quick to do what is expected of me physically (going to line formation during flag ceremony, transferring from one room to another, getting paper and pen, etc.)

    Social Skills
    • I can refrain from doing personal things in public, such as coming my hair during class time. (This is bad manner.)

    • I can refrain from eating during class time and from chewing gums in class. (These are classroom violations.)

    • I can control myself from showing any public display of affection.  I understand this is in bad taste and will also make my  partner's look cheap in the public.

    Attitude
    • My learning is my responsibility. The teacher is my guide.

    • I understand the book is not always right. I am willing to learn from sources other than my book.

    • My studies are designed to build me up. What I do with what I learn determines who I become.

    • I will strive to learn something everyday from all subjects.

    • I should not take my studies for granted.  My parents have sacrificed much for me, and I owe it to them, to myself, to my teachers to build the right future.

    • My attitude today becomes my character tomorrow. I am responsible for building my character.

    • Nothing is too hard for God.  What I find difficult I can tackle with God's help.
