TCS host Australian Mathematics Competition
Trinity Christian School is the venue of the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) participated by eighty (80) students coming from 6 schools around Bacolod City and one from Victorias City. The contest is conducted every year of which the purpose is to spur interest in mathematics and to develop talent through the excitement of solving challenging problems in a timed-multiple choice format. The problems range from the very easy to the extremely difficult. The same kind of competition was also conducted in other places around the country.
The participating schools were Trinity Christian School, Negros Occidental High Schd of cool, Tay Tung High School, St. John's Institute, University of St. La Salle IS and St. Mary Mazzarello School.
A special purpose of the AMC is to highlight the importance of mathematics as curriculum subject. Furthermore, there are always students who are gifted in this area thus the contest is one way of discovering their mathematical abilities.This examination, like all mathematical competitions, remains but a means for furthering mathematical development.
