TCS Goes Solar!

TCS goes green by going solar! The school is the first school in Western Visayas to run on solar power, embracing the use of clean and renewable energy.

Last May 8, 2015 at 4 pm an inauguration was held at the school's Little Theatre for the newly installed 25 solar panels by Orion Group International, capable of harnessing 20kwh of energy.

The program began with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the invocation was led by Rev. John Ong, the senior pastor of Bacolod Trinity Christian Church

In Ms. Esther Jane Uy's welcome remarks, she said that the use of solar power was merely a dream then, after a couple of school representatives attended the 1st Energy Forum organized by Orion Group International in Makati City. Ms. Uy added that it truly was God who provided what the school desired and quoted Psalm 37:34 which says "Hope in the Lord and keep His way..."

Engr. Rynor G. Jamandre, Executive Vice President of Orion Group International, Inc. said that TCS actually just paid for 20 solar panels but they installed an additional 5 panels free of charge. Four (4) families will also be given free solar power; 3 families to be identified by DepEd and 1 family identified by the barangay, Barangay Villamonte.

Engr. Jamandre also shared the benefits of solar power. It not only reduces our electricity bill, but also reduces our carbon footprint and makes Mother Earth happy. He also said that solar power is about light and not heat. Therefore, even at night it still harnesses energy through moonlight.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the covered court led by Trustee Mr. Kenneth Locsin, Engr. Rynor Jamandre, Ms. Jonalyn Navarro of DepEd, and Mr. Jose Marie Belleza of Barangay Villamonte. A word of thanks was delivered by Mr. Xerwin Ceballos in behalf of Trustee Mr. Mark Gomez .

A tour of the solar panels on the roof of the South Wing Building followed for those who were brave enough to climb the ladder.

This truly is a great milestone in the school's history. It would not have been possible without the Lord's grace and provision. To God be the glory./Alina Jane Villanueva
