TCS Hosts AMC And ICAS Awarding Ceremony
December 13, 2014 Saturday: Math enthusiasts turned achievers flocked to Trinity Christian School to receive their coveted certificate during the 2014 Philippine-Australian Mathematics (AMC) and ICAS Competitions Awarding Ceremony.
One hundred thirty four (134) students were awarded with competency and distinctions awards while there were 40 ICAS awardees. These students came from various schools from Bacolod City and other neighbouring towns around.
The AMC took place last August 7, 2014 here at Trinity Christian School. It is one of the world's largest school-based mathematics competitions with more than 14 million entries since 1978. This is a fun 30-problem competition with many of the problems set in situations which show the relevance of mathematics in students' everyday lives.
Meanwhile, the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) are independent skills-based assessments with a competition element. Commonly referred to as the UNSW tests, ICAS is unique being the most comprehensive generally available suite of academic assessments and school tests for primary and secondary school students. The assessments comprise eight (8) Computer Skills tests, eleven English, Math and Science tests, five (5) spelling tests and ten (10) writing tests.
Trinity Christian School is the center for training of the Mathematics Trainers Guild (MTG) Philippines Bacolod Chapter which also facilitates these AMC and ICAS Competitions.
